A new unofficial champion of the annual LSEN Week will be crowned on Thursday in Bloemfontein. Western Province will face South Western Districts in the main match of the tournament at Sentraal.
Western Province will without a doubt be the favourites to take the crown. They had no problems in brushing the Griffons aside by 48-17 in their second match in the City of Roses.
The team from Cape Town also defeated Eastern Province with ease by 34-18 in their opening match. Against the Griffons the loosehead prop, Rique Harmse, and the Nr.8, Dimitri Gossmann, both managed to cross the tryline twice.
The “defending champions” the Valke lost 17-29 against South Western Districts in their clash on the second day. SWD Eagles’ Nr.8, Ashley Gentle, wasn’t so gentle on the Valke and completed a hat-trick of tries.

The Leopards’ eighthman, Miqual Engelbrecht, produced a sublime performance and scored a hat-trick of tries. The scrumhalf, Lesego Seikaneng, is also a player to watch out for. He scored a brace of tries, converted five of his side’s eight tries and also slotted a penalty for a personal contribution of 23 points to his side’s victory.
Golden Lions’ inside centre, Mendes Vangu, also scored a hat-trick during his side’s 38-12 victory over the Pumas.
