Hoërskool Ellisras made history by scoring a mammoth total of 535, the highest ever their Limpopo 50-over league.
The team from Limpopo came up against Hoërskool Warmbad in their round robin clash of the Limpopo League.
Warmbad won the toss and chose to bowl first. A decision that soon proved to be the wrong one.
From the get-go it was clear that there would be a massive score on the cards as the Ellisras batsman went ballistic.
The batters from Ellisras managed to notch up three centuries in a blink of an eye. Opening batsman, Alec Bester, laid the platform with a wonderful 104 of only 81 balls before he was sent back to the pavilion.
Mohau Tswidi top scored with a score of 117 of 108 deliveries, an innings which included 12 fours. Although, it was Gerdro Grobler who was at the forefront of the onslaught accumulating 113 in no time.
Grobler made his 113 of only 67 balls at an impressive strike rate of 168. His innings included 17 fours and three sixes as he kept pilling on the runs to guide his team to their massive first innings total.
In a match that seemed to have everything it was Warmbads’ Nehan Volschenk who bagged a five-wicket haul emits the chaos walking away with figures of 5/103 in nine overs.
Ellisras kept pilling on the pressure with the ball as they continued to bulldoze the side from Warmbad.
It was Volschenk once again who put up a valiant effort with willow this time as the opening batsman made a hard fought 31 of 37 balls before he got his stumps knocked over. He was supported by Rickus Kern who counter attacked with a quick-fire 27 of 23 balls before he too lost his wicket.
For the team from Ellisras it was Dirk Uys (3/5) and Penny Zanrich (3/13) who proved to be too good for the batters from Warmbad, with the pair claiming six wickets between them for only 18 runs. The collapse added further insult to injury as Warmbad only managed to make 114 before being bundled out, handing Ellisras a massive victory of 421 runs.
