Grey College to get a re-match against Jeppe at the NMI Toyota Noord/Suid tournament in 2025

Seven new faces and a re-match between Grey College and Jeppe High School for Boys are on the table for the annual NMI Toyota Noord/Suid rugby tournament that will take place from 28 March until 1 April 2025 in the Markötter Stadium in Stellenbosch.

The seven new faces are Boland Landbou, Rondebosch Boys’ High, SACS, Diamantveld, Nico Malan, Hoërskool Rustenburg and Framesby. In total 30 of South Africa’s top rugby-playing schools will be in action during the tournament which is starting to cement its place as the leading school rugby festival in the country.

All schools’ second teams will also be in action during the tournament. In total 60 matches will be played in Stellenbosch.

Some of the biggest match-ups outside traditional rugby rivalries will happen this year at the Markötter.

Grey College will have a chance to avenge their defeat against Jeppe earlier this year during Noord/Suid in Pretoria. It was Jeppe’s first-ever victory over Grey and was reckoned to be the biggest upset in over a century in schoolboy rugby.

Grey could also bury another ghost during this clash next year as they suffered their heaviest defeat ever at the Markötter Stadium last week against Paul Roos Gimnasium (3-36).

The hosts, Paul Roos Gimnasium, will face Garsfontein and Noordheuwel in their two matches. The Garsie Bere has been running with the big dogs for some time now, with Nories starting to bite at the heels of the big dogs.

Affies and Paarl Boys’ High will lock horns again in a clash that promises to be one of the tournament’s highlights. Paarl Gimnasium‘s clash on the Monday against Monument‘s Wit Bulle will also be a cracker. Boishaai will face Waterkloof in their first match before taking on Affies.
