Abner van Reenen of Paarl Boys’ High found new life in the flyhalf jersey as he scored 23 points in his school’s 67-25 victory over Wynberg Boys’ High on Saturday. Van Reenen scored a hat-trick of tries and also converted four their tries as they recorded their 45th sucessive victory on South African soil.
Boishaai’s overall undefeated status came to an end during their last game on tour through New Zealand when they lost 36-38 against Christchurch Boys’ High. Boishaai will travel to Bloemfontein next weekend to meet with Grey College in a match that will probably determine who will finish the 2017 season as SA’s top schools’ team.
SACS’s unblemished record in 2017 got a little stain as they drew 24-all against Bishops on Satruday. Bishops led 12-3 at the break with winger Ross Goodwin scoring a brace of tries in the match.
Grey High School recorded their first victory since 2014 against Paul Roos Gimnasium in their annual Premier Interschools by 22-20 thanks to a late surge on their homeground in Port Elizabeth.
Grey High’s replacement winger, Kholiwe Konza, scored with less than two minutes left in the match to draw scores level at 20-all. Flyhalf, LJ du Preez, kept his cool and slotted the conversion to give his side the victory.
