Truter century gives Northerns edge over WP
An unbeaten century by Wald Truter paved the way for Northerns to beat Western Province on the second day of the Momentum National Under-15 Week taking place in Potchefstroom on Saturday.
The right-handed opener struck an impressive 151 (157 balls, 18 fours, 4 sixes) to help his team reach an imposing 275/9 declared at the Witrand Cricket Field.
Hanu Viljoen also made 55, before the WP were restricted to 177/8 in reply, handing their opponents victory on first-innings totals in the time cricket format. Reyneke Sheik took an outstanding 4/15 in eight overs, while Jonathan Bird made a consolation 85 for his team.
In other action, Johan Smal (51) and Francois Joubert (58) both hit half-centuries as Boland beat Border on first innings totals.
Batting first, Boland were bowled out for 191 – Anda Duda picking up 4/32 – with Anele Matya (3/21) and Juan Wilson (3/29) then sharing six wickets as Border fell for 172 at North-West University No3 Ground.
In other results from day two, Free State beat Easterns, KwaZulu-Natal Inland overcame Gauteng, Eastern Province won against KwaZulu-Natal, Namibia saw off Mpumalanga and Limpopo lost out to Northern Cape.
In the only match with four completed innings, South Western Districts were eight-wicket winners over North West.
