Western Province suffered a shock defeat of 6-16 against Border on the opening day of the Coca-Cola Grant Khomo Week in Kimberley. WP is the unofficial defending champions of the tournament.
Border’s flyhalf, Sihlalo Benge, scored all of his side’s points via a converted try and three penalties in this famous victory.
Free State bagged a last-gasp 32-31 victory over South Western Districts thanks to a penalty by their flyhalf, Juan Olivier. Free State build a lead of 22-5 at the break, but SWD fought back in the second half to take a 31-29 lead. Olivier broke their hearts in the dying moments of the match.
