Marlow’s Wolblitse champions of Queenstown-leg of Twizza 7s Series
Marlow Landbou managed to spoil hosts, Queen’s College’s, party during the second leg of the Twizza 7s Series (u17) in Queenstown. The Wolramme was crowned champions after managing to defeat the hosts by 28-5 in the final.
The Wolblitse only finished second in their pool as they suffered a 14-26 defeat against Hudson Park from East London. The team from East London was knocked out of the competition in the semi-finals by Queen’s College (12-5) in a closely contested match.
Marlow Landbou qualified for the annual Champion of Champions tournament that will take place on 18 and 19 October. The team from Cradock booked their place in the final thanks to a convincing 38-14 victory over Grens High School.
Interesting is that Queen’s College also finished second in their pool after suffering a 14-21 defeat against Grens High School. The hosts were victorious against Cathcart High (10-0), Kwa Komani (38-7) and Port Rex (35-7) in their other three pool matches to book their place in the play-offs of the Cup-competition.
Hudson Park came out on top in Pool A by bagging victories over Maria Louw (38-0), Mdantsane Hurricanes (24-12), Howard Ben Mazwi (48-0) and Marlow Landbou. Hudson Park will attempt to book their place for the Champion of Champions tournament this weekend when they host the East London-leg of the series.
Queen’s College was crowned champions of the u15-section after securing a comfortable 43-7 victory in the final over the Mdantsane Hurricanes.
