Carter High and Maritzburg College lead KZN Inland football pack
Three rounds into the Mancosa KwaZulu-Natal High Schools Football Association (KZNHSFA) Inland A-League, the journey to the final is entertaining, with the defending champions, Maritzburg College, and three other teams energetically fighting it out for the top two positions on the table.
Currently, last year’s runner-up, Carter High, tops the standings with seven points, closely followed by Maritzburg College, also with seven points but an inferior goal difference.
Only one point adrift of the frontrunners are Edendale and Ixopo, in third and fourth places respectively.
On Wednesday, Carter High scored a convincing 4-1 win over Haythorne Secondary School, while the Red, Black, and White, after a disappointing performance at the Absa Widleklawer Soccer Tournament, where they finished in 19th place, after going winless in their group, pulled off a 2-1 win over Linpark.
In other matches, Ixopo outplayed ML Sultan 3-1, leaving the A-League newbies without a win after three matches. Edendale also won, securing a slim 1-0 victory over Alexandra High.
