With two weeks of rest after an 83-0 victory versus Milnerton High, Boland Landbou will be in their best shape possible for a Paarl derby against Paarl Boys’ High, which the Farmers are hosting for a 12:45 kickoff on Saturday.

Boishaai were tested by SACS last weekend. Yes, they won 32-16, but with the lead only being 14-13 at the break, it looked like the southern suburbs outfit could pull off a major upset.

Last June, Boishaai won the derby 69-12. The Farmers will want to put in a more resilient effort this time out, and with the difficult start to their 2026 season, one may expect them to provide a stronger contest thanks to the character and improvements they’ve shown since they began racking up wins in recent times.

The visitors look to be the favourites to win the affair again. Captain and lock, AD Faul, along with loosehead prop Max Malan, are two of the toughest guys to get the best of in the lineouts and scrums, respectively. Both have been selected for the Western Province XV u18 (WP XV) squad at the 2026 Craven Week.

Some of Landbou’s most ferocious forward power is evident in loose forwards Juan Visagie and Josua Kruger. Visagie has as much stamina as any player on the field, while Kruger is a strong ball carrier who doesn’t go to ground without a fight.

It’ll take something special for the Farmers to upset Boishaai, but as we saw with SACS last weekend, past results are not always an accurate indicator of future results.

Milnerton ended their 10-match winless drought with a 34-20 success over DF Akademie last weekend. They have a tough challenge ahead of them on Saturday, as kickoff against Rondebosch Boys’ High commences at 12:10 on the Tinkie Heyns Field.

Bosch not only won the affair 28-17 last year but also returned to winning ways with a 55-19 triumph over Hoërskool Durbanville last Saturday.

Millies’ eigthman and tighthead prop Likhona “Anda” Filtana was selected for the WP XV outfit in the prop position, but will be playing as the eighthman this week thanks to his strong ball carrying ability. He’ll be their sole representative at the 2026 Craven Week.

Bosch hooker Kwaza Gobingca was selected for the Western Province u18 (WP) squad, so the set-piece battles are expected to show the quality that either side has in the front row.

The home side is resting two of their other players who made the WP squad, those being left-wing and scrumhalf Caleb Bell, as well as openside flank Linakho Mehlomakulu.

This allows for players like scrumhalf Daniel Arendse to have more time to show his qualities, while flank Janu Pretorius, who can also play as a centre, will get to test out his skills as a hybrid player.

Both sides want to double their respective winning streaks on the weekend, but the odds are weighing more heavily in Bosch’s favour.

It’s been a tough last few weeks for Hoërskool Tygerberg, who haven’t won any of their last six matches, with a 31-all draw against Hoërskool Robertson being their most promising result in this period.

Meanwhile, Hoërskool Swartland, their opposition for Saturday’s 12:00 kickoff in Parow, won six matches on the trot before losing 44-38 to Charlie Hofmeyr in their most recent outing two Saturdays ago.

It was a tough battle when the two sides met in Malmesbury last year, with the Roccies claiming the 21-17 win. The Tigers will be feeling more confident due to being on home soil this time out, but they shouldn’t overlook the visitors’ attacking threats.

Flyhalf, De Wet van Aswegen, is the general of his side. He collects many points off the kicking tee, but is also able to use that precision to exploit space at the back for wings, Zaidell Paulus and Vusi Johannes, to score. The two speedsters have each collected a fair number of tries this season.

Of course, it can be difficult to determine the final score in a contest between such evenly matched teams; however, one can safely predict that it’s going to be an absolute cracker!
