The Mancosa KwaZulu-Natal High Schools Football Association (KZNHSFA) Coastal and Inland leagues’ second term competitions are approaching their conclusion.

The finals of the Coastal A-League and the Inland A-League have already been confirmed. Meanwhile, Umvuzo Secondary School secured promotion to the Inland B-League for the 2027 season after beating Siyanda 1-0 in the final of the Inland C-League on 28 May.

Umvuzo Secondary School secures promotion

That match took place at the AB Jackson Field in Pietermaritzburg.  Both teams were well-prepared and produced a highly competitive clash with the championship title and promotion at stake.

Despite losing in the final, it was a hugely encouraging season for Siyanda, who contested the KZN Schools League for the first time. They can take pride in their achievement, and just missing out on the title should provide them with plenty of motivation to challenge for promotion next season.

Kloof High and Durban to fight for a promotion

In the Coastal C-League, Kloof High, which is also set to host its annual high-profile Kloof High School National Football Tournament later this month, finished second in the standings to secure a place in the title game. They picked up 13 points from four wins, one draw, and two losses, which included a 1-0 victory over Durban North College on Friday.

They’ll take on Durban Academy in the Coastal C-League final on Friday, 12 June, at Queensburgh High.

Durban Academy will head into the contest as the favourite after recording six wins and a draw in their seven games to finish top of the table with 19 points out of a possible 21.

Their lone draw occurred in the final round of regular season fixtures on Friday against Rossburgh High, with the game ending 2-2 after Nhlakanipho Mware scored twice for the league leaders.

The draw left Rossburgh in fifth place with 10 points from three victories, one draw, and three losses.

Ashton Ballito finished in eighth place after suffering a 1-2 defeat against George Campbell, who missed out on a place in the final on goal difference. Lindokuhle Madlopha and Themba Gumede netted for George Campbell while Lwandle Xulu replied with a consolation goal for Ballito.

Queensburgh High B and Canaan College played to a 1-1 draw.

A Pietermaritzburg derby awaits in the Inland B-League final

Maritzburg College B and Alexandra High B will face off in the final of the Inland B-League on 12 June, with Alex set to enjoy the advantage of playing on their home ground.

The season was less successful for the College and Alex A teams. Maritzburg College claimed the Inland A-League title in 2025, but they finished only fourth this season, while Alex finished in eighth place, last on the log.

The 2025 runner-up, Carter High, will face Edendale Technical High, in only their second season in the A-League, for the title.

On the last day of the C-League’s regular season, Maritzburg College scored a 2-1 victory over Michaelhouse, while Alexandra High shared a goalless stalemate with Riverwood College. Both teams concluded the season with 14 points, but the Red, Black, and White claimed the top spot on goal difference, just ahead of Alex.

Northbury closed with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Thornhill, but they narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final, finishing third with 13 points.

Maritzburg Christian School (MCS) secured sixth place, on seven points, after a 2-0 victory over Heritage Academy on Friday.
