St Andrew’s targets Selborne while Dale hunts Hudson scalp

St Andrew’s College (SAC) of Makhanda will face its second biggest challenge in the Eastern Cape this weekend when they travel to take on Selborne College on Friday night.
SAC, as they’re affectionately known, will take the reasonably long drive to KuGompo City in what’s expected to be a cracking Edgars Friday Nite Lights matchup.
Catch the action live on SuperSport Schools.
The two sides have been evenly poised this season, and there’s very little to separate them ahead of the clash.
Last weekend, St Andrew’s won on the road, beating Queen’s College 4-1 in Komani thanks to a Luke Mason hat-trick and strike by Ethan Malan.
Selborne, on the other hand, were scheduled to play Grey College, but that fixture was called off, and instead they took on rivals Dale College in Qonce.
Coach KJ Friend’s side proved to be a bar too high for Dale, and goals by Mivuyo Lwana, William Schaefer, Reid Drake, Liam Viviers, and Inathi Gxobole (2) sealed a 6-1 win.
Past meetings between the teams have been fiercely contested, and it’s Selborne who won last year’s fixture in Makhanda.
It took a strike by Reid Drake from a short corner late in the game to clinch the victory for the men in black and white.
History will mean very little, though, and SAC, under the guidance of coach Solomon Casoojee, will back themselves to get the job done once again away from home.

Another derby to keep an eye out for will be between Hudson Park and Dale College.
Both schools have had difficult seasons, and the match provides either a chance to put a tick next to the winners’ column and gain some confidence.
Hudson drew 1-1 with Merrifield College last week, and they’ll be eager to rectify that result against a Dale outfit that’s desperate to put a smile on their supporters.
In Gqeberha, Pearson High welcomes Woodridge College in their final match of the term, while Graeme College faces Stirling High, who are looking to bounce back after going down 1-2 to Cambridge High a week ago.
Kingswood College, after beating Graeme 4-0 last week, prepare to lock horns with Westering on Saturday.
