NewsG RichmanRichman Gora from the Griffons has been named the Coca-Cola® Hero of the day for day one of the U18 Coca-Cola® Craven Week.

The prestigious Coca-Cola® Hero of the Day award is presented on each day of the tournament in recognition of a game changing ‘hero’ moment.

Richman was selected for the award by a Coca-Cola appointed panel of rugby experts after two brilliant moments in his game against the Cheetahs. The first moment was in the 7th minute of the game, whilst the Cheetahs were on the attack and camped on the Griffons 5m line.

The Griffons turned the ball over and broke down the left wing, Richmond managed to sidestep his opposite number and run through the cover defense before handing the ball to gift Dlamini to score. The second moment came in the second half when he chipped the ball behind his opposing wing, collected the ball and then chipped the ball cross field for Siya Nxgesha to pick it up and score.

‘It is an honour to win this accolade, I play every game as if it is my last and do everything I can to help my team, if I win an award it is just an added bonus,’ said Richman.

Fetsi Mbele, Coca-Cola South Africa’s Senior Communications Manager: Brand Experience commented, “Congratulations to Richman Gora on being selected as Coca-Cola® Hero of the day for day 1 of the Coca-Cola® Craven Week. At Coca-Cola® we believe that it is essential to put platforms such as the Coca-Cola® Youth Weeks in place for players of all ages to reach their full potential.

The Coca-Cola® Youth Weeks are Where Heroes Are Made and for many of the players here this week, this is just the beginning of a future in the game. I look forward to following the likes of Richman as they carve out a career for themselves in South African rugby”
