TravelandSportThe Danie Rossouw XV will attempt to finish their tour unbeaten on Saturday against Leinster u19 in Dublin. The touring side already bagged victories against Terenure College RFC (19-10) and Young Munster (42-7). The highlight of the tour so far was without a doubt the encounter against Young Munster in Limerick.

Besides the favorable result this was also the first time in the history of Young Munster that they came up against a South African outfit. The Irish club is also celebrating their 120th anniversary with this match being one of the highlights of their festivities.

The Danie Rossouw side is a combined team selected at the Danie Rossouw Rugbyweek held annually at Rob Ferreira in White River. The Word Cup winner of 2007, Danie Rossouw, is a former pupil of Rob Ferreira. The Danie Rossouw XV’s tour is organised by Travel and Sport.

The match was played at Tom Clifford Park, which is named after the club first Britsh and Irish Lions players. The current Irish captain, Paul O’Connell, is the club’s latest British and Irish Lion. His father, Michael O’Connell, also played his rugby at the club.

All the South African touring side’s received warm Irish hospitality wherever they went. It must however be said that the hospitality of the Young Munster club was the best of them all. The coaches and officials from both sides sang Irish songs in the true spirit of what touring should be like.

For Danie Rossouw their captain and centre, Bertro Schwartz, was exceptional. Their winger from Curro Hazeldean, Etienne Pretorius, also showed off his pace a few times during the match.
