SACS hosts Paarl Boys’ High on Memorial-A Field on Saturday.

Kick off is at 12:30, and the action is LIVE on SuperSport Schools.

The Newlands school returned to winning ways last Saturday, snapping Hoërskool Parel Vallei’s nine-game winning streak with a 19-7 home victory.

Boishaai wasn’t as fortunate in their 22-28 King Price Derby Series loss against Paul Roos Gimnasium (PRG) in Stellenbosch on the same day.

Both Boishaai locks, Trichard van Tonder and Derrick Groenewald, made it onto the scoresheet in that Paul Roos defeat. They’re big and powerful and get stuck in around the field, exhibiting work rates usually associated with loose forwards.

Speaking of work rates, the hosts’ openside flank, Kwakhanya Gobe, plays with a non-stop engine. He’s a threat to disrupt the flow of the Boys’ High attack by stealing possession at the breakdowns.

It’s a tough ask for SACS. However, in front of their home supporters, they’ll be dreaming of pulling off a big upset.

Paul Roos Gimnasium‘s goal is to extend their winning streak to seven games. They host Bishops at 12:30 on the Markötter Field this Saturday.

While PRG defeated Paarl Boys’ High by six points in their King Price Derby Series showdown last Saturday, Bishops won their own King Price Derby Series clash, triumphing 37-36 at Hoërskool Durbanville after a stirring fightback.

Last year, Paul Roos won 41-10 against SACS in the southern suburbs. Left-wing Cadynn Samuels bagged a brace in that Boishaai triumph and will be excited to have another go at SACS. Saturday’s game also features a return from injury of outside centre Tiaan Basson.

With Bishops’ dangerous centre pair of Boytjie Fyfer and Eljaron Geduld back in the mix, they’ll offer a cutting edge on the counterattack. The Maroon Machine cannot afford to drop its guard in those brief moments when possession changes hands.

Paul Roos is certainly in the form to match last season’s result, but Bishops is a resilient outfit that could cause some discomfort if the hosts don’t maintain their focus throughout the 70 minutes.

After being held to a 22-22 draw against Hoërskool Porterville last Saturday, the DF Akademie 1st XV has an extra level of frustration with which to fuel their resolve against Milnerton High.

They host Millies, with the kickoff at 12:15. They’ll also head into the clash with a chip on their shoulder after Milnerton powered their way to an 83-15 victory in the fixture last May.

In 2026, matters are different. Milnerton has now gone 10 matches without a win – their record includes a draw with Brackenfell – but last weekend they were overrun 83-0 by Boland Landbou.

Not surprisingly, Milnerton’s 68-point win was their biggest of the year, but the landscape has changed. They have an ace up their sleeve in flyhalf Chadlin Sellidon. If his fellow backs can adapt to his improvised creativity, then Millies could find themselves back in try-scoring form.

DF has the forward power to make matters uncomfortable for Millies. Their captain and hooker Meyer Brits and tighthead prop Cor Hoving both got onto the scoresheet at Porterville last time out. They’ve been regular contributors this season, and Milnerton would do well to keep them quiet on Saturday.
