Wit Bulle stampede over The Red Army

Afrikaanse Hoër Seunsskool steamed through with a very comfortable 23 point win over King Edward VII (43-20) in Pretoria leaving the boys in red and white much to think about.

The first half saw an even match up with both teams showing some fight and not wanting to let the other side pull-away too early on.

Affies scored through  trustworthy fullback Miguel De Lange and the tenacious number nine Hendre Schoeman both putting the ball past the try line.

At halftime the score was neck and neck with Affies going into the break with a two point lead. The score sat 12-10 with KES showing some serious promise and would have felt right in with a chance.

The score ran away from The Red Army, with Affies scoring a flurry of points with outside centre Antonie Fourie and stocky hooker Ethan Van Dyk both getting stuck into the opposition. Each scoring two crucial tries.

Flyhalf Ruben Piennar converted four of his attempted seven conversions but had a solid performance throughout the match.

KES managed to score two additional tries in the second half with forwards Siphosethu Mnbelele and Thomas Beling both adding much needed points to the scoreboard.

The KES coaching staff will be disappointed with their team’s kicking display as they struggled to convert any of their kicks and will need to work on it during the week before next weekend.

The Witbulle will be hoping to carry over the momentum created against KES into next weekend’s fixture against a strong Grey College.
