Virginia High continues to shine on Magnificent Wednesdays

The Magnificent Wednesday Schools Football League, in the Lejweleputswa region of Virginia, in the Free State, features nine circuits that have schools competing in the league.
The champions of each circuit will compete in a one-day tournament at the conclusion of the regular season in late August.
In circuit nine, one of the Free State’s powerhouses and a force in South African football Virginia High School was welcomed by Harmony High School to its sports grounds on Wednesday.
After a hard-fought contest, Virginia High walked away a 2-1 win, taking the three points on offer, thanks to goals from Fikile Yena and Mozwakhe Flatela. Harmony’s consolation goal was scored by Karabo Lebona.
St Anne’s Technical School secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Meloding Secondary School, with Jason Arries scoring the decisive goal.
After suffering a 0-2 loss to Virginia High last week, Marematlou Secondary School was awarded a 2-0 walkover victory on Wednesday when Reatlehile Secondary School failed to show up for the match, which meant, also, that Marematlou earned three points by default.
