Six years – that is the number of years Jeppe Boys’ High has had the upper hand on Parktown Boys on the Astroturf.

This Friday, confidence will come into play when Jeppe Boys High takes the short trip down to Parktown Boys’ High in one of the most grueling derbies in Gauteng.

Meanwhile, a desire to silence their counterparts on home soil will be the agenda of the day for Parktown.

Jeppe, one of the in-form sides this year, will be looking to continue the impressive run that landed them a spot in the Top 10 list of the school’s rankings in the first two terms of the year.

The visitors go into the clash high in confidence. In their last competitive match, they thumped provincial rivals Pretoria Boys High 5-0. That brought an end to a pretty dominant first quarter of the season for the side.

However, the side will be looking to assert themselves even more. With six players coming from the Provincial tournament which took place in Bloemfontein, the Gauteng side couldn’t dream of a better time to play their noisy neighbours than now.

Jaydon Brooker, who won the player of the tournament in Bloemfontein after leading his side to the final, only to lose to Western Province will likely start the match despite his involvement for the SA U18 side against the U21 team. ‘

Jeppe will also be counting on the services of Miguel De Jesus, Neo Chimanyi, and Diahn Alberts-Flynn – all of whom featured for the Southern Gauteng side in Bloemfontein.

The Parktown boys will go into the game to crash the party. After losing their last clash against Jeppe, the side will look to use the game as preparation ahead of their final match against Garsfontein next weekend.

The school hasn’t had its best season on the turf. However, the 2-1 against Affies in May can be used as an alarm to show dangerous the side can be on their day. They will also look to beat their opposition for the first time since 2014.

The clash will kick off at 19:00 on Friday at the Parktown Boys’ Astroturf.
