Sharks of 2019 are the slayers of giants at u13 Craven Week
The Sharks managed to spoil Western Province’s party at the annual u13 Craven Week at Rob Ferreira in White River. The team from KwaZulu-Natal shocked Western Province by 26-24 to be crowned unofficial champions of the tournament.
This spoiled Western Province’s party as they were attempting to be crowned unofficial champions for the seventh successive time.
This was only Western Province’s fourth defeat in their last 44 matches at this prestigious event. It also ended their unbeaten record that stretched from the first match of the 2013 tournament. Their last defeat before Friday’s against the Sharks was against the Blue Bulls in 2012 (19-8).
The other two defeats during their last 44 clashes at the Craven Week were also in the main matches against the Eastern Province (0-12) and Limpopo Blue Bulls (6-8) in 2009 and 2011 respectively.
