School of Rugby Rankings – 4 April 2016

SOR NuusLast year’s top ranked team, Paarl Boys’ High, extended their unbeaten run on the rugby field to 24 matches with their four victories thus far in 2016. They also deservedly held on to their top spot in School of Rugby’s first rankings for the 2016 season.

With Affies, Grey College, Glenwood, Grey High School, Oakdale Landbou, Boland Landbou, Jeppe Boys’ High and Selborne College in our Top Ten also boasting with unbeaten records thus far in the season there will be quite some movement to come during the season in the rankings.

The performances of Affies and Grey College so far indicates that they will be contenders for the number one ranked spot in South Africa this year.

If a team is ranked higher than another team is doesn’t mean that the higher ranked team will beat the lower ranked team when they meet during the season. Our rankings only take into consideration matches already played by each team and not the potential of the teams. Garsfontein defeated Paarl Gimnasium by 15-13, but Paarl Gimnasium is still ranked higher at the moment. Garsies also lost to EG Jansen from Boksburg and are ranked higher.

Please note that we don’t take matches against international opposition into consideration in our rankings. These games will however still be recorded and shown in our results. If you want to see a team’s results thus far you just have to click on their name in the rankings. Usually we wait until after the annual Easter Festivals to release our first rankings of the season. This year Easter Festivals was quite early on the school rugby calender so there is quite a lot of teams that haven’t played a lot of games which made this first rankings quite difficult to compile.
