The South African u19-side secured their second bonus point victory on the second day of Cricket South Africa’s Cubs Week against the Sunfoil Dolphins in Stellenbosch. The national side came out on top by 150 runs.

South Africa u19 batted first and managed to reach 206 mainly thanks to half-centuries by Wiaan Mulder (61) and Dean Foxcroft (56). The Dolphins were restricted to a mere 56 runs.

The South African team’s spin bowler Sean Whitehead was again the pick of the bowlers as he dismissed three batsmen while only conceding ten runs. He was supported well by Foxcroft (2/7) and Ziyaad Abrahams (2/12).

The VKB Knights can also still boast about being unbeaten in this year’s competition. They defeated the Cape Cobras by 73 runs. Wihan Victor (94) narrowly missed out on his century as he helped his side reach 261 runs.

For the Cobras Gavin Kaplan (63) and Vezokuhle Mtnungwa (48) stood firm with the bat. Philip Visser got rid of three of the Cobras’ batsmen for 37 runs with his spin bowling.

Rubin Hermann (96*), wicketkeeper of the Titans, was well on his way to scoring the first century of the 2016-edition of the tournament. He was however forced to retire hurt after suffering a knee-injury.

The Titans won the match against the Warriors by 90 runs. Matthew Nepgen (3/4), Beyers Swanepoel (2/12) and Ruan de Swardt (2/13) caused the most problems for the losing side with their bowling.

The defending champions, the bizhub Highveld Lions, is one of only three teams going into the third day with an unbeaten status. The other two being the Knights and die national u19-side.

The Lions will face both these two teams in the next two days. The Lions defeated Cricket South Africa’s u17 Invitational side by nine runs today. Muhammed Mayet (89) was in a devastating mood as he struck six fours and another half-dozen sixes in his innings. Mitchel van Buuren (51) also weighed in with a half-century.
