There has been a rise and growth in the women’s football fraternity in the past decades. School tournaments and leagues at the grassroots level are making the future of tomorrow.

The Reddam Football Challenge Cup saw a game of magnitude as Reddam Constantia hosted South Peninsula u19. The fans were entertained by a game that produced several goals.

In the first half, both teams failed to capitalise on mistakes as the game went to a half-time deadlock at 0-0. In the second half, Reddam opened the scoring through a quick throw-in and a beautiful cross by the winger and the goal was scored near the far post.

South Peninsula came back stronger after conceding and made no mistake in a counter-attack to score an equaliser in the 29th minute to make it 1-1. A few minutes later, Peninsula made it 2-1 and went all the way to win the game as they came back from 1-0. The game ended 2-1 in favour of South Peninsula.
