Rain was the main role player on the third day of the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week in Durban. Of the morning’s Twenty/20 matches none produced a result due to rain showers. In the afternoon’s round of matches only one match the one between Free State and Northerns got underway.

Free State defeated Northerns in the only result produced on the third day of the tournament. Their hero being Nico Loubser with an allround performance grabbing two wickets for only 20 runs as well as contributing 39 runs with the bat in hand. He faced only 20 deliveries of which he struck four big maximums. Opening batsman, Christian Steyn (45*) saw Free State home, but was also involved in a few run outs as well.

Easterns’ opening batsman, Wickus Germishuizen (67) recorded the highest innings of the day to continue his good form at Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) national weeks. Germishuizen has accumulated 142 runs at this year’s tournament thus far at an average of 71 runs per innings. He has yet to score a century as Daniël Griesel of Mpumalanga is the only centurion of the tournament thus far. Griesel is also the only batsman to have scored more runs than Germishuizen in Durban.

Germishuizen has scored a century for the last three years at each of the three national weeks he attended. He scored 136 runs against Griqualand West in 2010 at the national u15 tournament. He averaged an unbelievable 200 runs per innings during this tournament.

Germishuizen played at the national u17 tournament in 2011 and 2012 in Bloemfontein and Cape Town respectively. In Bloemfontein he scored 101 runs in his side’s match against Zimababwe. In the Mother City he totalled 297 runs at an average of 59.4 runs per innings. He recorded his century (131) against Limpopo at this tournament.
