Midweek wins for Carter, Queensburgh, Inland C-League final set

On Wednesday, in the Mancosa KwaZulu-Natal High Schools Football Association (KZNHSFA) Inland A-League, Carter High increased its lead at the top of the standings with a 1-0 victory over Maritzburg College.

Carter, the 2025 Inland A-League runner-up, avenged their defeat in the 2025 final, beating their city rival on a goal from Bayanda Msomi. The win increased Carter’s tally to 13 points, one more than Ixopo, who picked up a 2-0 win over Linpark.

Edendale climbed above Maritzburg College, from fourth to third, after securing a 2-0 win over Haythorne. They now have 10 points, two points clear of College. To qualify for the final, Edendale will need to win its last two round-robin fixtures.

The chase for a place in the final remains open. Even Maritzburg College, with two wins, two draws, and one loss from five matches, still has a chance to qualify for the title game, or even finish at the top if the three teams above them drop points in the forthcoming two games. But their chances have slimmed after losing to Carter.

A 100% winning record for Queensburgh High after five games

Queensburgh High has won five out of five in the KZN Coastal B-League. Their most recent victim was Sastri College, with Queensburgh recording a 2-1 win in their clash on Thursday.

In second place is Brettonwood, with nine points. They fell further off the pace set by Queensburgh on Thursday when they were beaten 1-0 by Grosvenor Boys’ High, Ziyanda Ndlovu netted the decisive goal for the school from The Bluff.

New Forest High has now drawn level with Brettonwood on points after a 2-1 victory over Redwood College, thanks to goals by Awande Ngcobo and Lwandle Ngobese. Brettonwood, though, owns the better goal difference.

After their defeat, Redwood is at the bottom of the table, in eighth place, while Empangeni is in seventh, and Amanzimtoti occupies sixth place, with five points.

Asibonge Ngobese netted twice in Empangeni’s 2-1 win over Amanzimtoti, which improved their points haul to four. Their position, at seventh, was unchanged.
