
CSA to host SA U19 Women Camps to launch journey towards 2027 World Cup
TSHWANE: Cricket South Africa (CSA) is gearing up to host two national training camps for the South Africa Under-19 Women’s team
The defending champions of the Noord-Suid T20-competition, Menlopark, kicked-off their campaign with a comfortable 81-run victory over Wynberg Boys’ High on Camp Discovery’s main field.
The final of the tournament will also be played at Camp Discovery this coming Sunday.
Menlopark batted at a very positive run-rate of 9.13 runs per over with Wybri Thuynsma (62, 46b) and Christiaan Daniels (31, 25b) helping them to reach 190/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Wynberg Boys’ High could only reach 109 before being bundled out mainly thanks to some good bowling by Stephan Kruger (4/15) and Ryan Greyvenstein (3/31).
St Andrews of Bloemfontein managed to secure a four-wicket victory over St Stithians College of Johannesburg with 3.5 overs to spare.
Waterkloof started their campaign off with an 81-run victory over Diocesan College (Bishops). Jordan Hermann (58) and Christiaan du Toit (54) recorded half-centuries while Hardus Coetzer (45*) also made a valuable contribution with the bat as Klofies reached 214/5 in their 20 overs.
Du Toit and Hermann shared a 105-run partnership over the second wicket. Du Toit struck his half-century from a mere 28 deliveries.
Hermann (3/14) and Coetzer (2/19) was also the pick of the bowlers for Klofies.
Jeremy Martins produced an allround performance for Northwood as they defeated Hoërskool Nelspruit by 38 runs. Martins contributed an unbeaten 39 runs as the team from Durban reached a very competitive 194/3 in their allotted overs.
Martins (3/24) also was the pick of the Northwood bowlers as Nelspruit were restricted to 156/6.
Northwood’s Thulani Chiliza (67) and Travis Graham (37) shared a 99-run partnership before the latter’s wickets were rearranged by Rohan de Meyer (1/28).
