Jeppe High School for Boys’ ready for annual Rugby Festival
The fifth edition of the Rhino Jeppe u16 Rugby Festival will take place from 1 to 4 April on the Collard and White fields of the oldest government school in Johannesburg, Jeppe High School for Boys. All the matches will be streamed live on Fanstream.co.za – register now to check the schedule.
The hosts and another 17 of South Africa’s top u16 school rugby teams will take part in the festival. The match days are on 1, 3 and 4 April. Jeppe High School for Boys’ was founded in 1890 only four years after the city of Johannesburg.
Other teams participating in at the Rhino Jeppe u16 Rugby Festival are Helpmekaar-kollege, Randburg, Westville Boys’ High, Grey High School of Port Elizabeth, Martizburg College, Zwartkop, Noordheuwel, King Edward VII, Kearsney College, Piet Potgieter, Golden Lions Invitational, St. Benedict’s College, Pretoria Boys’ High, Florida, Landboudal of Jacobsdal and Parktown Boys’ High.
Jeppe High School for Boys’ u16’s will play in the main match of the opening day against Kearsney College. Jeppe will face Maritzburg College and Randburg in their other two games during the festival.
The main field, Collard, is named after legendary first team coach Jack Collard who coached Jeppe’s first XV from 1942 to 1960. The White-field is named after old-boy Jake White who coached the Springboks to World Champions in 2007. White coached the first XV of Jeppe from 1989 to 1994.
Jeppe produced Springboks like James Dalton, Brent Moyle, Des Sinclair and Wilf Rosenburg over the years.
