Lambie first Michaelhouse Springbok
Six new caps has been named in the Springboks end of year squad for the Grand Slam-tour. Michaelhouse has produced their first Springbok with the selection of Patrick Lambie. The youngster was one of the outstanding players in this year’s Currie Cup competition and scored 25 points in the Sharks’ victory of 30-10 over Western Province in the final of the tournament in Durban. Lambie represented SA Schools in 2007 and 2008.
Grey College of Bloemfontein produced their 35th Springbok-player in Coenie Oosthuizen. Dale College produced their seventh Springbok-player in Keegan Daniel. Two players from Dale College will be on tour. The try machine, Bjorn Basson is also a former pupil of Dale College. Grey College will have eight players on tour, one more than how many Dale College have produced.
Adriaan Strauss, Ruan Pienaar, Flip van der Merwe, Jannie du Plessis, CJ van der Linde, Frans Steyn, Bismarck du Plessis and Oosthuizen are the old-Greys on tour.
Willem Alberts became the first Springbok of Monument who is not a centre. Monnas’ three previous Springboks Christo Wagenaar, Brendan Venter and Jaque Fourie all ply their trade in the midfield.
