NewsGJordanHermannJordan Hermann was the star of the third day of Cricket South Africa’s Cubs Week. The Titans’ opening batsman scored an unbeaten 168 runs in his side’s 142-run victory over Nigeria on Maties’s D-field.

His knock took him to the top of the run-scorers list for the week with 302 runs in his side’s three matches thus far. He boasts an unbelievable average of 151 runs per innings. Hermann faced 149 deliveries of which he dispatched 23 past the boundary. Two were maximums.

He could do nothing wrong on the day as he also picked up two wickets at the cost of a mere five runs in the two overs he bowled. Hermann shared a mammoth 197-run partnership over the second wicket with Khaya Nyamathe (71).

He also joined forces with Hardus Coetzer (65) over the fourth wicket for another century partnership (100).

It seems that the Knights and the Lions will meet each other in the final of the week bar any surprises. Both sides are still unbeaten and will face Nigeria and Nambia respectively who are still searching for their first victories of the tournament.

An impressive allround performance by Ruan Cronjé helped the Knights secure a four-wicket victory over the Cape Cobras. Cronjé (4/44) first helped his team to restrict the Cobras to 175 with his spin bowling.

He then also shined with the bat as he scored 62 runs. He received some valuable support from Marco de Kock (26), Corné Viljoen (24) and JP Coetzee (22).

The Lions came out on top by five wickets against the Dolphins. The Dolphins batted first and were restricted to 193 thanks to some good bowling by Zakhele Sibanda (3/18) and Michael Copeland (3/41).

Christopher de Freitas (65*) followed his century of yesterday up with an unbeaten half-century. He and Heinrigh Pieterse (57*) shared an unbeaten 122-run partnership over the sixth wicket to get their team over the line.

James Mullins (83), George van Heerden (63*) and Jaden Smith (55) all recorded half-centuries as the Warriors defeated Namibia by 140 runs. Van Heerden also got rid of two batsmen for a mere four runs, while the pick of the Warriors’ bowling attack was his Grey High School teammate Joshua Stephenson (3/22).
