There were ebbs and flows to the battle, with the hosts dominating on day one before a solid batting shift by Grey High on Saturday had the hosts labouring in the field.
On Friday, Darion Rabie snared five Grey High batsmen as the visitors stumbled to 142 all out in their first innings.
After Kamo Mokoena made the initial breakthrough to remove the Grey High opening duo, Rabie made short work of the rest of their lineup to put the Bloemfontein boys in the ascendency.
They backed up their early dominance when Ruben Maree scored a massive 137 runs off of 147 balls to blast them 135 runs clear of Grey High’s first innings score.
Henru de Wet played a fine supporting role, contributing a further 58 runs, as he and Maree constructed a 169-run partnership to pile the pressure on the touring side.
Grey High, however, showed they are a quality outfit by regrouping to turn the tables on their rivals in their second innings.
Centuries by Kian Cambier (119) and Xander Elkington (101*) powered the visiting team to a massive 341/5 by the time play came to an end.
Rabie added another three wickets to his record, but the Elkington and Cambier partnership swelled to 185 runs before Henru de Wet removed Cambier.
Next weekend, Grey High welcomes an in-form Boland Landbou to Gqeberha for another two-day contest, while Grey College sets off on a tour of the Western Cape on Wednesday.
