Donkies have some Italian and Boland Landbou flavour for Afgri Oesfees
The main match of the annual Boland Landbou Afgri Oesfees will once again be a tightly contested encounter as the hosts will take on the Donkies of HTS Drostdy.
Catch all the action from the day live on SuperSport Schools or via channel 216 on SuperSport.
The hosts’ Albie Bester will be a player to watch out for during the season and the inside centre will without a doubt ask a couple of questions to HTS Drostdy’s midfield during the encounter.
The Donkies from Worcester boasts a big pack of forwards with a backline that has pace to spare. Matt Romoa on the side of the scrum is the player that the hosts will have to keep at bay if they would want to get the upper hand in the front.
The Donkies is coached by former Italian international Tobie Botes. He represented Italy in 22 tests, Botes was born in Worcester but is also a old boy of Boland Landbou.
In the main curtain raiser expect the fireworks to fly as Hoërskool Stellenberg faces Worcester Gimnasium.
The Jade Brigade has played a couple of chukkas last week against Robertson in which no goal kicks or scores were taken. Stellenberg has moved into Western Province Premier A-section for 2023 and therefore will have probably their toughest season to date.
Worcester Gimnasium is never an easy fixture and they have some exciting backs in flyhalf, Aiden Abrahams, and inside centre, Curick Kastoor.
Stellenberg’s tighthead prop, Herman Lubbe, had a solid first season in 2022 with the first team and would be one of his side stalwarts for the coming season. Estian Steyn (inside centre) will make his debut for the Jade Brigade as he moved from Hoërskool Garsfontein at the end of last year due to his family moving down to the Cape.
There is also other first teams in action during the day, but their matches are played in 15 minutes per half encounters.
