The Golden Lions secured only their third victory since 1990 over their neighbours, the Blue Bulls, at the annual FNB u18 Craven Week, when they narrowly won their encounter on the first day of the 60th edition of the tournament by 36-35.

It was the Lions’ first victory over the Bulls since 2016 when they came out on top by 41-14 in Durban. Their only previous victory over the team from Pretoria since 1990 was back in 2010 (23-20).

The Lions’ captain, Chinedu Amadi, led his team from the front with loosehead prop, André Poulton, also keeping the the side on the front foot thanks to some bullocking runs.
