Marius du Plessis led the charge for Boland Landbou on all fronts as they beat Fairmont in a T20 battle on Tuesday.

With 62 runs off his bat and a bowling haul of four wickets for only 10 runs, Du Plessis spearheaded Boland to an easy 58-run victory.

Fairmont enjoyed early success through Daniel Breeders and Daniel Anderson, who had the visitors under pressure at 29/3.

Du Plessis’ introduction to the crease, however, boosted the Landbou innings as he bludgeoned 11 boundaries, including four sixes, to reach his total in only 39 deliveries.

In reply, Justin Passman struck a stubborn 46 off of 26 deliveries against the farmers.

The Boland Landbou bowlers ripped through the rest of the Fairmont lineup, though, and restricted them to just 85/9 after Stefan Conradie, at last, sent Passman packing.

Paarl Boys’ High bounced back after their weekend’s defeat against Rondebosch to beat Parel Vallei in Somerset West.

Gideon du Toit (66) and JJ van der Sandt (31) played well to build a partnership of 62 runs for Boishaai after the hosts had won the toss and elected to field.

When Sibulele Makaleni made the breakthrough for Parel Vallei, dismissing Van der Sandt with the help of Sevi Barlow‘s safe pair of hands, Christiaan Wege stepped up and contributed a vital, unbeaten 36 runs.

Wege, then, transferred that energy into Boishaai’s defence, claiming three wickets and a catch as the hosts were restricted to 129 all out.

Aiden Batt got the visitors off to a flying start by striking with the first delivery of the Parel Vallei innings. Despite some fight from Marco Karsten (34) and Henry Jones (25) later on in the innings, PV fell short by 32 runs after their 20 overs.

Both Karsten and Jones were dismissed by the combination of Johan Wege pocketing catches off deliveries by his brother, Christiaan.

This weekend, Boishaai takes on Bishops Diocesan College, who have been dominant in the year that they celebrate their 175th anniversary.

In Durbanville, HTS Drostdy‘s Stephan van der Merwe cracked 39 runs off 17 deliveries to see his side to a comfortable win away from home against Curro.

A freak accident meant Reece Bald, unfortunately, had to retire after the second delivery of the match. His exit led the home team to stumble and post only 77/6, which Van der Merwe and co chased down in 6.1 overs.
