Ben Vorster will make it tough for Oos-Moot in Tzaneen

NewsGBenVorster1Oos-Moot have a different kind of challenge that awaits them in Tzaneen when they face Ben Vorster on Saturday in their SDC Noordvaal Cup Shield-clash in Tzaneen.

The Buffel’s haven’t had the best of seasons thus far but put up a very good display against Secunda two weeks ago falling just short of what would have been a major upset.

The men from Tzaneen looked like a new team in recent times and with a bye last week had some extended rest after a very physical meeting against the hard men from Secunda.

Oos-Moot on the other hand faced two tough challenges in as many weeks having to travel to Lichtenburg and playing against Secunda last weekend which went down to the wire.

Chadwin Storm slots in at his familiar position on inside centre for the home side. Storm has been instrumental in the midfield with his amazing ability to attack the smallest of spaces. He will also be one to watch out for on defence being the backbone in the backline for the Buffel’s.

The danger man lurking at the back Neo Sephuna will look to add some flair on attack to add to his impressive performance on defence two weeks ago.

Upfront, the Buffels will welcome back their ever-present tight head prop, Meyer Vorster. Vorster’s presence will add some fire power to the Vossies scrum, together with his colleague at hooker, Christopher Jansen van Vuuren, the duo will be a hand full on attack as well with their burly ball carries.

Oos-Moot on the other hand suffered two major blows in their encounter against Secunda last week, one being their stalwart and playmaker upfront, Gert Hendrik Grobler, who suffered a shoulder dislocation, but still posses the abilities of Wade Williams on the side of the scrum who will make live very difficult for the Vossie defenders when he gets going with ball in hand. Williams has also been exceptional at the breakdowns and plays a pivotal role on defence.

The men from the Moot will look to flyhalf, Charl van der Sluis, to continue his good run of form and take a leadership role in a side struggling with injuries to guide them to a victory which will secure a home semi-final and a chance to rest some key players in their last fixture.

Secunda comes up against Hugenote (Springs) and will look to keep their unbeaten streak going, a victory against the men from Springs will ultimately secure a home semi final for the table toppers, but they will have to make due without their stalwart lock, Zack Loock, who misses out due to injury, but have a more than capable replacement in Bakkies Bezuidenhout who has been instrumental for the 2nd XV since his return from injury. Bezuidenhout was part of the u16 green Squad last year and seems more than capable to fill the big boots of Loock.

Hugenote have struggled thus far but will want to prove that they are not to be taken lightly, especially in their own back yard. Aiden Mazirel will want to light the fire among his forwards when he slots in at hooker once again. Mazirel has been impressive on defence and won’t shy away from the physicality that Secunda brings to the table.

Ligbron will travel to Kempton Park to face Jeugland. The men from Ermelo have hit their straps in recent times with two big victories under their belt, beating Heidelberg Volkskool (31-19) and Lichtenburg (21-17) with the later being away from home. The two impressive victories have given them a fighting chance to qualify for the playoffs.

Jeugland will look to upset the rhythm of Ligbron. With them being out of the race for the playoffs they will want to end on a high starting with a victory over the men from Ermelo.

Lichtenburg welcome Heidelberg Volkskool in a do or die clash for them. The team from North West have to come out on top against the visitors to keep their hopes alive. Liggies has struggled in the last couple of weeks with loosing twice in as many weeks, both being at home.

For Heidelberg Volkskool this too is some what of a do or die clash with Ligbron coming through strong in the last couple of weeks, putting some pressure on the team from Heidelberg to secure a spot in the top four.
