Paarl Gim extends winning streak to 11 at Oakdale, Milnerton bags first win

After being down 7-13 at halftime in Riversdal on Saturday, Paarl Gimnasium delivered a near-perfect second-half performance, scoring 42 unanswered points to gallop to a 49-13 victory, which extended their winning streak to 11 games in succession.

Gimmies‘ fullback Thomas Saunders continued his exceptional try-scoring run, dotting down twice – the only player to muster more than one try in a contest that dished up eight in total. He scored four times against Wynberg Boys’ High last weekend.

Captain and inside centre Ethan Barker put in his regular hard shift and scored another try. He carried powerfully when on the attack, and closed down space with pace on defence.

Captain and eighthman Jacobus de Villiers led the Bulle from the front. His stamina was second to none, and he crossed for Oakdale’s lone try.

The home side put up a strong fight, but they found themselves overwhelmed in the second half when the visitors stepped on the gas to pull clear.

After going 10 games without a win to start the season (they mustered a draw with Brackenfell), Milnerton High won for the first time in 2026, picking up a 34-20 victory at DF Akademie.

Millies‘ captain and flyhalf Chadlin Sellidon dictated matters and also broke through for two tries. Callan Lakay, who is usually in the no. 9 jersey, tried his hand at right wing and added a try.

Left-wing Nurudeen Wanza and utility back Troy Ferreira also got on the scoresheet, thanks to a backline which clicked on the day. Thanks to their clinical finishing, the visitors tallied more than 25 points for the first time in a match in 2026.

DF hooker Meyer Brits added another try to his growing collection, but his fellow forwards often lacked the edge in the physical battle against a desperate Millies’ pack.

Inside centre Zuan Lottering and fullback Jayden Plaatjies were dangerous ball carriers, and both dotted down for DF.

With a first win in the bag, Milnerton faces a stiff test next weekend when they visit Rondebosch Boys’ High.

Parel Vallei vs Brackenfell

After a 5-19 loss to SACS last weekend, which was their first defeat, Hoërskool Parel Vallei (PV) won again to make it 10 wins in 11 games this season. Playing Hoërskool Brackenfell in Somerset West, they won 29-13.

PV’s forward pack impressed with their strength, stamina and all-round intensity. Those qualities were exemplified by blindside flank Ethan Ramos and eighthman Reilly Capes, who were both among the try scorers.

Wings, Rafael von Loeper and Aydin February, showed off one of the Bulldogs‘ strengths by collecting a try apiece out wide with their exuberant pace.

Next Saturday, Parel Vallei will be favoured to continue their impressive winning ways when they host Westerford High. Brakkies will have an opportunity to bounce back against Monument Park High.
