Hoërskool Waterkloof was not prepared for the onslaught of a very determined Hoërskool Sentraal. The final score was Waterkloof 25 and Sentraal 20.

In the battle of the 1st teams, scales in terms of territory, largely belonged to Waterkloof in the first half. Klofie Sean Joyce was penalised at a scrum and Tralie Brendon Kahts goaled, the score was 0 – 3 after 10 minutes. Although Waterkloof maintained most of the possession, they did not always use their chances to convert it into points. Waterkloof lost the ball on more than one occasion due to turnover possession.

In the 25th minute eight man Nardus Erasmus visited Tralies goal line and scored a try. Flyhalf Tinus de Beer converted. This was the beginning for Waterkloof and shortly after Nardus’s try, the speed of wing Divan Swanepoel had an impact on the game and Waterkloof scored another try, Tinus missed the kick. Klofies had another opportunity for a penalty kick and Tinus de Beer scored.
The Halftime score was 15-3 for Waterkloof.

After halftime it was all Hoërskool Sentraal when Klofies’s super sized loose head prop Xander van Wyk had to leave the field with an injury. Klofies struggled to maintain their ball possession and in that time Tralie lock SJ scored their first try. Tralies has applied great pressure on Waterkloof and they had to work to get a win in their pocket. When Klofie flank David Joyce had to leave the field Waterkloof really struggled and Tralie lock SJ scored another try. The scores was tied 15 – 15. Tralies got another penalty against them and Tinus converted another penalty for Waterkloof scores 18 – 15. The last try for Waterkloof was scored by Peet de Klerk and converted by de Beer. Tralie’s wing Wian Koekemoer scored the final try of the match and Brendon Kahts missed the conversion.

Waterkloof’s Stefan Coetzer had big shoes to fill in the place of injured SA schools scrumhalf Justin Phillips, he was a worthy replacement. The eighth man, Nardus Erasmus also stood out in this game.

Tralie lock SJ and wing Wian Koekemoer stood out as the best players of this match for Sentraal.
