Titanic battle awaits when Wit Bulle and the Red Army clash
On Saturday the schoolboy chants will once again roar through the streets of Pretoria, as the Wit Bulle take on King Edward VII in their annual clash in the Jacaranda City.
With Affies running out as favourites in the long awaited clash of titans, KES will definitely have a point to prove.
The Wit Bulle have been in good form, playing the Affie-brand of old. Relying on their solid defence and turning errors into attack they possess the skill and vision to attack from anywhere on the field.
This will have the Reds on their toes for the full seventy minutes and with a pack of forwards consisting of brute strength as well as skillful loose forwards they would love to get their big, strong and fast back line clean go-forward ball.
On the other hand the Reds tend to thrive under the label of “underdog.” They themselves have been in red-hot form, almost causing a major upset, but just falling short against Paarl Boys’ High (8-10) just a few weeks ago.
They seem to have a team playing for each other, with a never-say-die attitude, which will make life very difficult for the Affies.
Over the last few years it’s been a see-saw battle between the two giants up north, with Die Wit Bulle stepping out as victors in the most recent meeting in 2022.
The year before though, the Reds overcame the Wit Bulle in a titanic battle with the final result being 18-10 in favour of the Reds, not long after they narrowly lost 11-15 in the same year.
There are not many words to describe the upcoming clash other than “strap in ladies and gentleman”, this will be a full seventy minutes of entertainment, with both teams playing exceptional rugby this season, combined with the atmosphere on the day, this promises to be a monumental clash between two very proud and historic schools.
