Waterkloof of Pretoria secured a significant victory of 26-20 over Paarl Boys’ High in the main match of the last day of the St. John’s College Easter Festival in Johannesburg. Klofies’ flyhalf, Thinus de Beer’s boot and calm head under pressure was the difference between the two sides.
The lead between the two sides changed six times during the match. De Beer dropped a goal under immense pressure with 14 minutes to go to give his side the lead for the final time. A few minutes later he also slotted a penalty to make sure Boishaai needed to score a converted try if they wanted to leave the field as victors. De Beer converted both his team’s tries, kicked three penalties and dropped a goal for a personal tally of 16 points in the match.
Windhoek Gimnasium’s fullback Divan Rossouw scored four tries as his side defeated St. John’s College of Harare 40-6. The host’s of Johannesburg just missed out on a victory against Noordheuwel losing the match 31-35. It was a match of two halves with Noordheuwel dominating the first and St. John’s College the second half.
