Grey College have produced seven South African Schools’ captains since the inaugural Nuffield Week was held in 1940. The tournament was renamed as the Khaya Majola Week in 2001. The seven SA Schools’ captains are Kepler Wessels (1976), Joubert Strydom (1980), Hansie Cronjé (1987), Nicky Bojé (1991), André Volsteedt (1994), Riël de Kock (2002) and Divan van Wyk (2003). 

Two future Rugby Springboks, Morné du Plessis (1967) and Helgard Muller (1982), represented the South African Schools cricket side in their matric years.
